School Policy for All Students
School Policy for All Students
At the Royal Canadian College of Osteopathy & Alternative Medicine, we are committed to
providing a professional, respectful, and academically enriching environment for all students. By
enrolling in our programs, students agree to adhere to the following policies and guidelines:
1. Attendance Policy
- Mandatory Attendance: Attendance in all in-class workshops and practical sessions is mandatory. Missing more than 20% of classes without a valid reason or prior approval may result in academic probation or dismissal from the program.
- Online Modules: For courses with online components, students are expected to complete all required modules within the given time frame. Lack of participation in online courses can impact your overall performance.
2. Academic Integrity
- No Plagiarism: Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism, cheating, or any form of academic dishonesty will result in disciplinary action, which may include failure of the assignment or course and possible expulsion.
- Original Work: All assignments, exams, and projects must be the original work of the student. Collaborative work must be explicitly approved by the instructor .
3. Code of Conduct
- Respect and Professionalism: All students are expected to conduct themselves with respect and professionalism in interactions with faculty, staff, and fellow students. Discriminatory, abusive, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Classroom Etiquette: Students are expected to arrive on time for classes and practical sessions. Repeated tardiness or absences without proper communication may result in academic penalties.
4. Dress Code
- Appropriate Attire for Practical Sessions: Students are required to wear appropriate professional attire for all hands-on practical sessions, including closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for osteopathic treatments
5. Evaluation and Grading
- Exams and Assignments: Students will be evaluated through a combination of assignments, practical assessments, and written exams. Grades will be assigned based on performance, attendance, and participation in both theoretical and practical components.
- Final Practical Exam: The final practical exam is a key component of the evaluation process. Students are allowed three attempts to pass the final practical exam. If a student fails after three attempts, they must undergo an interview and evaluation with the academic board and may be required to retake certain courses.
- Grading Criteria: Assignments, participation, and exams will all contribute to the final grade, with specific grading rubrics provided by each instructor.
6. Academic Probation and Dismissal
- Probation: Students who fail to meet academic standards or violate school policies may be placed on academic probation. If performance does not improve within the probationary period, the student may face dismissal.
- Dismissal: Grounds for dismissal include academic dishonesty, failure to pass the final exam after three attempts, or behavioral issues that violate the school’s Code of Conduct.
7. No Refund Policy
- No Refunds: Once payment has been made, all course fees are non-refundable. Please ensure you fully understand the program requirements before enrolling. Students are encouraged to reach out to administration for clarification before making payment.
